SEO & AI Search for Chiropractors

Get your practice found on Google — and recommended by AI.

More patients now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google's AI Overviews to recommend a chiropractor before they ever see a list of links. Here's what those systems check before they name a practice, and what an independent chiropractor can fix first.

What changed

In BrightLocal's March 2026 survey of more than 1,000 U.S. consumers, 45% said they now use AI tools to get local business recommendations — up from 6% a year earlier. ChatGPT was the most-used of those tools.

That doesn't replace Google. It adds a new step in front of it. A patient might ask ChatGPT for a chiropractor, then check the Google reviews of whoever it names. If your practice isn't in the AI answer, you may never make the shortlist. That's why this work covers all three layers: SEO (showing up in Google's results and map listings), AEO (being the direct answer to a patient's question), and GEO (being cited when AI writes a longer recommendation). Here's the plain-language difference.

What AI checks before it names a chiropractor

The free guide breaks this into three questions AI systems work through before they recommend any business. Here's what each one looks like for a chiropractic practice.

1. "What is this practice, exactly?"

  • A complete Google Business Profile with "Chiropractor" as the primary category, accurate hours, and your services listed one by one — not just "chiropractic care."
  • Each doctor named with their credentials (DC, plus any certifications) and a real bio. Health is what Google calls a "Your Money or Your Life" topic, where content is held to a higher standard of trust — so who's giving the care should never be vague.
  • A clear page for each thing you treat or offer. If you do sports injuries, prenatal care, or a specific technique, say so plainly on its own page. AI can't recommend you for something your site never states.
  • Structured data that states your name, address, phone, hours, and services directly in a format machines can read.

2. "Can I trust what they're telling me?"

  • Details that match everywhere. Your name, address, and phone should be identical on your site, Google, Yelp, Healthgrades, and every other directory.
  • Your NPI registry record, too. This one gets overlooked. Healthgrades says that as soon as a provider registers for an NPI number, it pulls from the NPI registry to create a profile. An old address in that federal record can quietly spread to directories you never touched.
  • Steady, recent reviews on Google and the health directories patients use. Most people who use AI for recommendations say they double-check what it tells them against review sites.
  • Professional directories where you qualify, such as the American Chiropractic Association's public "Find a Doctor" directory for ACA members.

3. "Should I actually recommend them?"

  • Direct answers to the questions patients actually ask: Do you take my insurance? What does a first visit involve and cost? Are you taking new patients? Do you have evening or Saturday hours? Is there parking?
  • Answers near the top of the page, in plain sentences, not buried in PDFs or images that AI systems may not read.
  • An FAQ section built from the questions your front desk hears every week — the same questions patients are now asking AI.

No guarantees here. No one can promise your practice will appear in a specific AI answer, and anyone who does is overselling. What you can control is whether your practice is clear, consistent, and backed up across the web — which is exactly what these systems look for.

What a report covers for your practice

A Baseline or Advanced report is a researched, scored look at how your practice shows up across Google and the four AI answer engines that matter most — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews — scored separately for SEO, AEO, and GEO. For a chiropractic practice, I look at:

  • Whether AI systems name your practice when asked for a chiropractor in your area (the Advanced report adds a side-by-side comparison with up to three competitors)
  • Your Google Business Profile, categories, and services
  • Name, address, and phone consistency across Google, Yelp, Healthgrades, and your NPI record
  • Whether your doctors are clearly named and credentialed on your site
  • Structured data on your website
  • Anything AI systems are getting wrong about your practice
  • A prioritized fix list — what to do first, and why
